with God

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Your child was in the cookie jar eating Oreo cookies, and he or she comes to you with that look on their faces like, "What, I didn't do anything" as the chocolate crumbs are on their faces and teeth are black for the Oreo cookies.
They know they are guilty, yet they try to act like they are not.
But don't we do the same thing?
We come to God acting like everything is cool and that we haven't messed up.
We give God that look like, "What, I didn't do anything" as the stain of sin is all over our faces.
Sometimes we know we are guilty and refuse to come to God until we do something we think has cleansed us from our sin, like give a little extra money to a charity or church. Sometimes we will do extra service for others. Or how about reading the bible more, or at least vowing to.
So many times we tend to remove our own sin and no matter how hard we try, it's still there.
Think of your kids with the Oreo cookies, sure they could wash their little faces to remove the crumbs, but the stain on their teeth just wont go away by washing their faces.
So, we hand them their toothbrushes and some toothpaste and their teeth are white again.

Think of our verse again today.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

When you walk in the light, all your sins are exposed, and as we confess them to Jesus He not only removes the sin, but the stain of sin in our lives.

  • Isaiah 1:18-20 (NLT) 18 "Come now, let us argue this out," says the LORD. "No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool. 19 If you will only obey me and let me help you, then you will have plenty to eat. 20 But if you keep turning away and refusing to listen, you will be destroyed by your enemies. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

  • So bring all your sins before the Lord and let Him cleanse you of your sins, if not, they will destroy you!
