5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying: 2 "Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them--the children of Israel.
In today's devotional verses, this is the beginning of the book of Joshua where Moses has died, and Joshua is chosen to take his place leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land.
There is a church we used to go to a few years ago where the pastor has left the church, very few if any have left the church because the pastor is gone. This is a very good thing, because it shows the people are following Jesus and not a man.
I have heard at one church that people will actually call in to make sure the pastor is teaching that week, if he's not then they wont go.
Joshua continued on with the work Moses started 40 years earlier.
If Jesus doesn't return for his church in the next 40 years, God willing this website will still be here teaching God's word. My vision is to eventually teach the entire bible here. I know, some of you are saying, "At the rate we are going, it will take 40 years."
Maybe yes and maybe no, it's all in God's hands. But what if I'm gone to be with Jesus in 40 years or less, what will happen to this website?
I pray that possibly one of my sons or daughter would keep it going, or maybe the Lord will raise up someone I can train to continue it. But it doesn't matter who it is as long as they are teaching God's word in truth.
But then that shouldn't matter to you either, because you should be following Jesus and not me, your pastor or any other man or woman.
People will come and people will go over your lifetime, but as long as you follow Jesus, you're heading in the right direction!
